World Premiere of CABLE STREET to open at Southwark Playhouse
TIM GILVIN and Alex Kanefsky's new musical CABLE STREET will get its World Premiere at the Large, Southwark Playhouse Borough in February next year. It tells the story of disparate communities whose lives are changed forever by the events of 4 October 1936, when half a million Jews, Irish workers and communists united to blockade the East End against a march by Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists, declaring "They Shall Not Pass", demonstrating how racial intolerance can be defeated by community action. It's a message which is as powerful and resonant today as ever. It runs from 16 February to 16 March with a Press Night on 26 February. It is directed by Adam Lenson and produced by Dylan Schlosberg's 10 to 4 Productions and Neil Marcus.
